George Washington's Plastic Tomb

Here's an update to a post from 12.5 years (!) ago. I recently sent off a small non-sports sub to the fine folks at SGC. I can drop off at a local show held every 3 months and I figure since they don't charge an arm and a leg, I should protect a few of my cooler pre-war or older raw vintage cards.

This George Washington from the 1889 N222 Kinney Brothers Leaders set was an easy selection to send off and treat with additional care. I am the person that -- for those of you who have been around these parts long enough to see my collecting style -- intentionally collects 1s and worse because I'd rather own the card than spend more money to own the nicest copy of the card.

This card clearly falls into that category and despite being an easy 1 with staining and some damage, it presents very well which is what I care about most!

The Only Russian I Actively Pursue

Another reasonable eBay sketch pickup that was a no-brainer is today's featured cardboard. Not breaking the bank while adding a brand new Archer Sketch Card is a combination I will always jump high and jump far at.

This is only my second sketch from Felix Morales. Adding a new Katya always puts a smile on my face. I hold out hope he has APs floating around! Maybe one day....

More Mars Attacks PSA 4 Additions!

I was able to add a few more cards to my 1962 Topps Mars Attacks Set Chase. The below three bring my total to 23 of 55 cards, or ~42%. I have had a few rushes of pickups but overall it's been a slow and steady grind which is exactly what I anticipated this project being.

eBay pickup number one is card number 20 -- Crushed To Death. As always, the artwork is exceptional and absolutely killer!

The second of my only eBay pickups from the set in the last year plus is card number 17 -- Beast and The Beauty. I had never noticed the glass breaking and suspended in mid-air as the Martian grabs the scared young girl....until just now. These just keep paying artistic and cardboard dividends!

The third and final card was had at a local card show of all places -- Martian City in Ruins, number 53 in the doable set. When I saw a dealer I like had a stack I was hoping to find a bunch, but what he had was mostly dupes for my needs or happened to be on the high-end of historical eBay pricing for each card. That being said, I was happy to snag the one!

Mikey Hannity and Mike Vasquez!

I lucked into another fantastic addition to my Cryptozoic Archer Sketch Card collection recently. I was doing one of my multiple daily eBay checks for Archer sketches when the below popped up for a very reasonable Buy It Now.

A tough, tough artist and a brand new character in my Archer world made this a really successful day of online perusing as Mike Vasquez created plenty of cards but remains almost impossible to locate on the secondary market. This is mostly due to one collector who fell in love with his artwork and owns the vast majority, but even still, I would have thought you'd see him pop even if it was once a year.

Mikey Hannity, voiced by Glee alum Darren Criss, is a low, low-level Irish mobster and appears in only one episode of the show. However, it's one of the best episodes and one of my favorites -- Season 2's Placebo Effect (Episode 9).

Allen & Ginter: Arms of All Nations

I picked up another random 1800s Ginter card to add to my small PC of O.G Ginter Goodness. The Twitter group I belong to which focuses on non-sports and specifically vintage non-sports has paid dividends early on with a couple of cheap but fun additions.

This 1887 N3 "Arms of All Nations" score features the Arab Musket and for being a 1, it's in solid shape and even has a fairly clean reverse.
